Gateway exists to empower individuals to dream beyond their challenging circumstances. Through empathy, love and unwavering practical support. We open doors of opportunity for the poor, ignite hope for those struggling, and transform lives in Siliguri—one person at a time.

Gateway NGO was founded by Suraj Bhujel and Anju Rai, inspired by their life experiences and driven by a shared Vision to uplift underprivileged communities in Siliguri and North Bengal. Rooted in compassion and community insight, we focus on practical support, leadership development, and impactful partnerships to bring lasting change. We believe every person has the potential to overcome hardship, and with the right support, communities can thrive.
Gateway is a registered NGO under Rule 21 of the West Bengal Registration Rule, 1962.
Sports training program
Our program empowers youth through sports by providing free football training that promotes teamwork, discipline, and healthy lifestyles—helping build brighter futures for underprivileged communities.
Needs based support
We provide targeted support to underprivileged individuals and families based on their specific needs whether it's education, healthcare, nutrition, or shelter—ensuring help reaches where it’s needed most.
Gateway Skill Training Program
Gateway offers a free skill training program to empower women and youth from underprivileged communities.
Currently, the program provides beauty and grooming training for women and football coaching for youth, led by dedicated volunteers in a supportive environment. As the program expands, more vocational and life skills will be introduced to create broader opportunities and promote personal empowerment, confidence, and resilience.
Informal Education
Education is the key to dignity, opportunity and Change . Without it, children face greater risks of child labor, early marriage, and exploitation.
Many children cannot go to school in the first place
Out of those who start, many do not finish because they have to look after siblings
There are more than 8 million children under 6 that live in the slums
And 22.72 million children between 5 and 18 years old
The time to act is now—education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle
Tution support project
For school-going children who can’t afford private tuition, we provide academic help, emotional care, life skills, and awareness on health, safety, and human trafficking. Our aim is not just better grades—but stronger, more resilient individuals.
Food assistance
Millions in India's slums face daily hunger due to poverty, unemployment, and rising food costs. Malnutrition, especially among children, remains a serious concern in these densely populated areas.
Gateway NGO is committed to combating hunger by providing nutritious meals and ration kits to slum communities. Through dedicated volunteers and donor support, we ensure vulnerable families get the food they need to survive.
